The Story Behind My Blog's Name
blog: An online diary; where the author writes about an event, situation, topic, etc. It is a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page. Blogs often reflect the personality of the author.
Sometimes when people ask me what I do for work, I want to say "how much time do you have?" because it's a lengthy list.
For most of my life I have liked to stay busy with multiple endeavors. So naturally when I started working, I liked the idea of having multiple jobs and not doing the same thing every day.
**For all you astrology lovers: I have a triple mutable chart so I am a restless person by nature.
my current jobs
office assistant at finance office (3 days per week)
airbrush tanning artist (2 days per week)
yoga and barre pilates instructor (2 - 4 days per week)
nanny (1-4 days a month)
model / photographer (2-4 days a month)
gypsy: Someone who lives by itinerant trade and fortune telling. Gypsies are nomadic and free-spirited.
The story behind my blog's name is referring to my lifestyle. Not only do I work multiple jobs, but I trade my services for products and other services I use. Trade work is not beneath me. If I am not making money and I'm not spending money, but I am getting something I need in return, I am fine with that. For example, I have done trade for beauty services, counseling, clothes, food, and start up companies. YES, you read that right, counseling. I met someone who is a physiologist and life coach, and I helped promote their business and in return they helped me get through a difficult time.
So that's where the modern part of my blog's name comes into play. Being a gypsy these days does not have to mean swindling people into buying services or stealing from them (like most stereo-typical gypsies are known for). It just means that you are ok living a go with the flow type of lifestyle. You do not let your job title define you. You posses different skills and use those skills to survive, allowing every day to be different from the last.
